WOOHOO!!!! Another awesome game for the College Park Hornets!! Last Saturday, they had 0 points at game's and. Thursday...2 points. Today...7 POINTS!!!!! And they looked organized and focused. It was like watching a different team.  So proud!!

Thought I mentioned (but had not), that we are also EAGERLY awaiting some visitors from the north after Christmas...more fun!!!! The kids have more planned than there are hours in the day!!!

And...our new elf showed up this morning. In a hot air balloon. And brought a North Pole breakfast. The kids named him Stuart. He is now the official eyes and ears for Mr. C. Help us...

Watching the fence go in last week

Finally back to a "normal" school week!

Stuart lands in his hot air balloon!

"Snownuts and reindeer sausage biscuits"
Surprise!! We have an elf!! he brought stuff for Lovie,
but she was still asleep.

FINALLY added some lights to the outside...hello, Santa!

Some quick things before long-awaited bed:
1. George said, after he saw Mimi with her new do in the salon:
"Mimi...You look just like a REAL Chinese girl!" (then to me), "They all look like that you know."
(Yes, she thought this was pretty funny!)

2. Driving to George's Basketball practice Monday, late as usual...
MIMI: "Mommy, riding with you is like being in an R-rated movie!!!"
(I took it as a compliment!!)

3. Tonight at George's second Basketball game, guess who scored the ONLY basket???? Woot!! He said after, "When I got that shot, I heard everyone yelling!!!" Hell, yeah!!!
(We'll ignore the 36 or so fouls he made--too much street ball with his Mama!!!)

Have I mentioned how much we are LOVING College Park????? It's nice to see Jason in the morning and before it gets dark after school each day! Love the constant sound of trains and planes. Love all the friendly neighbors. Love the old, creaky floors! Insert happy emoticon.

Nana is on her way...
14 days until someone's 7th birthday...
18 days until Christmas!!
So ready it's not even funny!

So proud of Mimi today. She cut off 10 inches of
hair to donate to Locks of Love!

Well...here is our month in review!
We moved. And that pretty much took care of November!
The kids helped a TON--carrying boxes into the house and being good little helpers. We had the assistance of two former Woodward students--they were AWESOME!
We are settling in, and waiting for the fence to go in today--hallelujah! I love the dogs, but I don't love the early morning and late night ball-throwing-poop-searching time!
On a non-moving note, Mimi asked to be quizzed on some third grade sight words yesterday, and she and George got all but one! Someone give their teacher a raise!

Lovie gives the new house a thumbs up!!

While moving, George passed some time building his Star Wars Pods (genetically predisposed to avoidance of work!!!)

"The Big Yellow Truck"

Ahhh...home sweet home.

First morning in new dining room

Natan is SO tired from moving, he fell asleep on the bench!
Note that the piano made it!!

Look what we found in Nana's boxes--beaver hat (yes, we are Canadian!),
fox hat, and a hat that defies description!

And don't forget about our Native American unit--the kids made a great totem pole, some clay pinch pots, which I should have pictures of but don't--here there deep in the process!

 All while moving houses!

This was taken back in August when we first started...
The house was built in 1929, so we are finding lots of neat
nooks and crannies--even a coal chute! This is the
ironing board and iron cupboard. I know, I know...it's all too exciting!!

So...
This is how the children and I helped move today...
First, we drove out to Stonecrest Mall for our annual (8th year) Santa photo--no line and a super friendly Santa.
Then, while at mall, we 1) rode the train, 2) ate crappy/delicious junk food at Checkers, 3) PIERCED Lovie's ears!!!!!!!!!
That killed about four hours.
Pretty much our day.

Meanwhile...back at the ranch, Jason and his two worker bees sweated up a storm.
Brought back THIS memory:
Moving memories 1

Moving Day
Ugh. There is just not enough coffee this morning to perk things up!
I have realized after 40 years, I am somewhat of a super-procrastinator as opposed to just a procrastinator.
So far, to avoid packing, I have shopped at target for silly Christmas things, extended my run times even though my knee burns in protest, my Christmas shopping is one gift away from being done, and today I am taking the kids for their annual Santa photo. (Same place for the past 8 years, and Lovie's first time!).
OK, ok...we did got a lot done yesterday (after we all wasted time making a lengthy drop at the Goodwill and then goofing off).
And...we have run out of boxes/crate, so after Santa, my helpers and I--make that "helpers" and I will head to the new house and unload so we can fill more.
Having said that, we have PURGED. I stuck to the whole, "If it hasn't been used in 16 years, it's probably finished" philosophy. I know, I know...I am efficient!
Happy Moving Day! more coffee, please...

So...here's the thing.
I turned 40 on the 7th and am ashamed of myself for not posting all the wonderful things from the celebration!
To summarize...

Jason surprised me with a lovely party!

OLD friends (meaning from the past 15 years!)

And newer (from the past 8 years!)

Mexican food and carrot cake...
does he know me, or what!!

"Big Mimi" hosted, and "Little Mimi" took this picture!

I also received beautiful flowers from my Mum, sister, and brother-in-law (they lasted forever!). Thank you!!
My sister gave me gorgeous bling-y earring which I LOVE! Natan said they make me look like a movie star...
 Thank you!!
On top of this, we have...
Our busy season coming with all the music...
School which continues to go well...
And Moving Day is this Monday!!!!!
Surprisingly, there are not as many boxes packed and stacked as one would think.
Perhaps I should get up and pack something...
